About Me

My name is Mallory Hummer. I have been a teacher for many years teaching a variety of grade levels and subjects. I've taught in multiple states and also abroad. I am from Colorado and licensed as an elementary teacher in grades K-6 with an ESL endorsement and am currently working on my early literacy endorsement. I have 13 years of dedicated classroom teaching experience; three years in Taiwan teaching English, three years in fifth grade, and seven years teaching kindergarten and first grade. I am also the ESL teacher for the district.

This job is a calling to me. I am passionate about what I do, especially when it comes to literacy. My experience teaching English to speakers of other languages transfers easily into teaching children how to read and learn their first language. I have a strong belief that all children can succeed academically, socially and emotionally and become successful adults with the proper education, an attitude of perseverance, and high expectations. 

I currently live in Osgood, Indiana with my husband of 16 years, Jonathan, and our daughter, Runa, who is four and attending preschool at Sunman Elementary. We also have a shih tzu named Bing who was our first 'baby.'
